The Cole County Engineer and Staff are involved in the planning and design of road, bridge, and stormwater projects. The department inspects and oversees the implementation of these construction projects.
Funding
Funding for road improvements comes predominately from proceeds collected through the 1/2 cent sales tax that is paid on all purchases in Cole County. This tax was last approved by voters in 2016, with 85% going toward road and bridge improvements and 15% for improvements to other Cole County facilities.
Road and Bridge Improvements Consist of:
- Safety Improvements
- Upgrade Gravel Roads to Paved
- Major Thoroughfare Projects (In Cooperation with Jefferson City)
- Road Resurfacing
- Bridges, Culverts, and Low Water Crossings
- Projects in Cooperation with Small Communities
