In an effort to improve care for critically injured or ill patients, Cole County EMS, in partnership with ImpactLife, is proud to offer pre-hospital blood products to patients experiencing hemorrhagic shock.
In the United States, trauma is the leading cause of death for those in the age range of 1-44 years-old and accounts for 47% of all deaths in the age group. For those patients suffering from hemorrhagic shock, a severe complication of blood loss. The early transfusion of blood products directly maintains the body’s ability to transport oxygen to cells, tissue, and organs, until a definitive repair can be made by a surgeon.
Lifesaving blood products would not be available without continued support from local doners. To schedule appointments and help support lifesaving treatment in our community, please call ImpactLife at (800) 747-5401, schedule online at www.bloodcenter.org or via the ImpactLife mobile app (www.bloodcenter.org/app).
Organizations that would like to support the blood supply by hosting a mobile blood drive can learn more and submit an online form at www.bloodcenter.org/host. Or contact Andrea Cole, Manager, Donor Relations, at acole@impactlife.org.
