Warrant Scam

The Cole County Sheriff’s Department is receiving complaints, again, of a scam involving warrants. The suspects are calling people and identifying themselves as a deputy. They are telling the victims that they have active warrants and now have to pay with money orders or they will go to jail.
This is a scam and people should not pay this money. If you have any doubts, call the local police or sheriff’s departments. Do not use the number they give you. It is important to remember that we do not call people and tell them they have warrants, we show up at your house or come get you.
