JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI (January 3, 2018) – Judge Patricia Joyce sentenced Jeanne Capozzoli to a seven year sentence on January 3, 2018. The sentence comes after a two-day jury trial held in November of 2017. In that trial, a Cole County jury found Capozzoli guilty of driving while intoxicated. The defendant was found by the Court to be a chronic offender based on her four prior convictions for driving while intoxicated. In light of her status as a chronic offender, Capozzoli will not be eligible for release until she has served two years of her prison sentence.
Capozzoli was charged in December 2015. The charges stem from a traffic stop of the defendant’s vehicle by the Jefferson City Police Department on December 16, 2015. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kristin Mengwasser tried the case for the State. Ms. Mengwasser points to the hard work and dedication of law enforcement as the reason why the jury was able to reach a just verdict.
