[ARCHIVED] Man Arrested for Bomb Making

On Monday, April 8, 2019, at 8:02 AM, Deputies were called to the residence in the 800 block of AC Exit for a report of someone making bombs and exploding them. Upon arrival, the victim told the deputies that this morning, the subject blew up some type of device outside of their residence. They also told us that yesterday; the subject was making the devices and exploding them outside of their home. No calls were reported then. 

Upon investigating the scene, deputies walked around the residence and located one unexploded device wedged between the phone service outlet and the under pinning of the mobile home. Regional West Fire District, as well as, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Unit responded to the scene. MSHP Bomb Squad arrived at the scene and detonated the device.  

The subject, identified as Danny Smith (40 yoa, w/m), was arrested and transported to the Cole County Jail without incident. He was booked for a total of four felonies; two felony counts of Assault 2nd, one felony count of unlawful manufacture and use of a dangerous weapon (explosives), along with a felony and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge. Mr. Smith posted a bond of $21,000 dollars and was released.
