On November 13, 2019, Jefferson City Police Department officers attempted to stop Allen’s vehicle to serve him with outstanding warrants. Allen led police on a high-speed pursuit on Myrtle Avenue and Stadium Boulevard before crashing his car at the intersection of Stadium and Southwest Boulevard. Police surrounded the vehicle with weapons drawn as Allen climbed into the back seat, at which point Allen lowered the rear window and held up a 2-year-old child, later identified as his niece, for approximately 30 seconds before rolling the window back up. Allen and the child remained in the vehicle for approximately 20 minutes before Allen released the child and later exited the vehicle and was taken into custody.
Allen faces 10 years in prison on the endangering charge and 7 years on the resisting charge. The jury returned a not guilty verdict on one count of kidnapping. He is scheduled to be sentenced before the Honorable Jon Beetem on August 1, 2024.
